Jane Spencer

Co-Founder, DBT Therapist

Jane Spencer (She/Her), LMLP-T

Jane Spencer is a Temporary Licensed Master's Level Psychologist in the state of Kansas. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-Medicine, with a minor in Chemistry and Physics, and a Master of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Clinical Skills—both from Washburn University.

Jane’s therapeutic approach is compassionate and grounded in evidence-based practices. Among the DBT skills she teaches, Jane’s favorite is Radical Acceptance—the practice of fully and courageously accepting reality. While this can be challenging, she believes it is effective for helping to let go of bitterness and to cultivate lasting peace. She is excited to help clients gain confidence that life can be worth living even with painful events in it. Jane is also open to faith-based discussions for those who wish to explore religion/spirituality as part of their healing process. In addition to individual and group therapy, Jane offers ADHD assessments.

Outside of her clinical work, Jane values being present and nurturing a sense of gratitude for life’s simple moments. She enjoys cooking with her husband, exploring creative pursuits like acting and painting, and appreciating a well-brewed cup of coffee!

Wisdom and freedom require the ability to allow the natural flow of emotions to come and go, experiencing emotions but not being controlled by emotions. – Marsha Linehan (Founder of DBT)
