Student Intern

Sarah Johnson-Munguia (She/Her)

Sarah Johnson-Munguia graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University in 2017. Currently, she is a fifth year PhD student in Clinical Psychology at the University of Kansas. Within her graduate program, Sarah’s research focuses on eating disorders in ethnic and racial minoritized populations and ways to better classify and diagnose eating disorders. Additionally, she serves as a student therapist delivering specialized eating treatment and as an assessment trainer to help other students learn how to administer structured clinical diagnostic tools.

Sarah is passionate about learning DBT because of its balance on acceptance and change, as well as its focus on improving quality of life beyond just mental health symptoms. Sarah’s favorite DBT skill is radical acceptance, which helps with letting go of resistance, judgment, and denial when reality is not the way you want it to be. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys reading, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with her husband, toddler, and their foster dogs.
