Maria Ortiz-Towner (She/Her), LCMFT

Maria Ortiz-Towner earned her BS in Sociology from Newman University in Wichita, KS. She later earned her MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University. Maria has had over 2 decades of clinical experience as a LCMFT (Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist), beginning in 2002. Maria is bilingual (Spanish and English) and has a broad range of experience in counseling. She specializes in Trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Emotional Dysregulation, Substance Abuse, Addiction, and Couples and Family Relations.

Mrs. Ortiz-Towner believes in a dual approach for counseling. Strategizing with patients on how best to support them, “becoming part of their team”, assisting them in each step of their journey. She works toward developing a connected relationship to her patients for them to feel comfortable and safe in her care.

Maria’s favorite DBT skill is Correction of Cognitive Distortion, using this skill to help confront stress, and helping regulate/correct errored thinking.
