MerrilL Evans (she/Her), LSCSW
Merrill Evans (she | her) is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker who has been providing mental health care to the Lawrence Community since 2004. She is a third generation Jayhawk and graduated with her Bachelor’s in Social Welfare in 2004 and her Master’s in Social Welfare in 2008, both from The University of Kansas. She obtained her clinical license in 2013. She was the program coordinator for sexual assault and intimate partner violence at The University of Kansas for six years prior to joining the DBT Center of Lawrence. In this role she provided direct support to students who had been impacted by violence and her style included empowering individuals to make personal choices, learning self validation, and reclaiming both mental and physical space. She also worked at the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center for 10 years and was a Senior DBT Therapist when she left in 2015.
Merrill has extensive experience providing DBT treatment to a wide range of clients and has a particular fondness for the transition age (16 - 25) as she loves their energy and spirit. Her (current) favorite DBT Skill is Radical Self Acceptance as once mastered this skill opens the door and lays the foundation for a lifetime of self love and acceptance. When not working Merrill enjoys being with her partner, their elementary age daughter and their two dogs, a Chihuahua Mix and Mini Aussie.
