Rachel Kostura Polk

Co-Founder, DBT Therapist

Rachel Kostura Polk (she/Her), LCPC

Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She graduated from University of Kansas in 2014 with a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology after double majoring in Psychology and Music at Furman University. Prior to co-founding the DBT Center, Rachel provided therapy on the DBT team at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center for three years.

Rachel's passion for providing DBT therapy is founded in her belief that people are capable of change through trust in a therapeutic relationship and commitment to themselves to incorporate skills into daily practice. Rachel's favorite DBT skill is from the interpersonal effectiveness unit and is the acronym: GIVE. She likes the reminder to be Gentle, Interested, Validating, and to use an Easy Manner when interacting with others, remembering that being right is usually not as important as being effective. Rachel enjoys yoga, rock climbing, going to classical music concerts, and spending time with her husband and two cats.
